About the course

Answers from Our Ancestors is a course that assists and guides you through the process of deconstructing your personal perspective on African indigenous spirituality and spiritual practices. Deconstruction is when you give yourself the opportunity to sit down with yourself and ask; what is it that I am doing and why? Where does my thinking about what I am doing come from? What do I know and where do I know it from? Why do I think I know what I think I know? It is the process of giving yourself context, to placing yourself within your own agency. Agency is that place of knowing what part you play in anything that you participate in, including this.

Makhosi Nomabutho

Founder of Sangoma Society Our ethos is that your ancestors are your own and that you should have a personal relationship with them. The resources we provide here are created with that in mind. The ancestors are people , just like you are a person. To build a better relationship with your ancestors, you need to start by building a better relationship with yourself. And who better to help you to do that, than the people who knew you before were born, the ones who loved into being; your own ancestors.

Finally, aReflection and perspective I remember when I first met UMakhosi over the phone. We had a conversation that l just didn't connect with AT ALL. I am also taking responsibility and assuming it was my ego, my trust issues and the need for resistance that was playing a part. However, l listened attentively and wrote down every single thing that she said. To watch it all transpire and unfold as she had said. I did everything she said cleansing wise and went silent for a few months continuously doing what she had prescribed then in our next consultation EVERYTHING she said was exactly where l was and what l already knew especially with all the spiritual work l was doing. Goodness - all l can say is that life is difficult yes but you can fight through it with prayer, faith and the strong belief in God, your power and our ancients. We CAN! We literally CAN. Things are unfolding beautifully. Makhosi handbook that makes photography feel simple! It covers everything from camera settings to post-processing in a way that actually makes sense.
